He found us a substantially larger interest only mortgage than I could get from any of the usual online mortgage shopping sites and at a competitive interest rate. I tried 2 other brokers as well and their offers were not as good as what Connor found.

I brought my first house with a mortgage via WR Ethical and Darryl was excellent at talking me through the process and keeping things running smoothly. My situation was complicated having worked abroad for around a decade and now working on a contract in the UK but Darryl managed to find a solution for every problem. In fact, the US/Iran war started as I was at the offer stage which impacted mortgage products and Darryl still managed to find a solution. My recent property purchase was not straightforward, involving structural issues discovered during surveys and subsequent price renegotiation. During a stressful three-month process involving a lot of people, Conor was the most reassuring component of the transaction. What set Conor apart was his willingness to go the extra mile for me as a client: * Fast: I contacted several brokers, and Conor responded days before any others did. When I did speak to others, it was clear to me that Conor struck the right balance in terms of what I needed to manage and what he would manage on his end. * Protecting my rate: In a market where interest rates have been fluctuating daily, Conor worked tirelessly with colleagues at Nationwide to make sure the original rate we put in place when I first offered was honoured. Even when the purchase price changed, he seamlessly navigated Nationwide’s internal systems to keep my original price locked in. * Expert guidance: When the survey and valuation results came in, I was confused about how these would affect aspects of my mortgage, such as LTV. Conor’s clarity helped me understand the finer points of a negotiation I needed to have with the sellers. * Very proactive comms: He was always one step ahead and made sure anything I sent him was communicated to the lender very quickly. On multiple occasions, he communicated with my lender to keep the offer open, even without my instruction. He was committed throughout and even answered my calls on a family holiday in one instance. * Empathy: Negotiating a house purchase while living in temporary accommodation was stressful for me, and there were a lot of aspects I didn’t know about in detail, being a first-time buyer. high-pressure. Conor understood and treated my case with genuine care, rather than just as another file on his desk. He always explained the next steps thoroughly. If you are looking for a broker who is technically great, highly responsive, and who will actually fight your corner with the lender when needed, Conor is the best in the business. To our surprise, we were able to get a mortgage offer very quickly and secured a lovely property. However, due to circumstances beyond our control, we ended up having to re-apply for a mortgage under a significant amount of time pressure. Ashley was absolutely fantastic, responding promptly to our queries, chasing and escalating our concerns over Christmas and ultimately ensuring our vendors didn’t pull out! Majority of mortgage advisors couldn't even find one lender for my circumstances. Paul, however, found a few. Initially I reached out to multiple brokers with the same specific questions that I couldn’t find answers to online. I chose Ashley since he was quick to respond, understood our situation really well, addressed all my concerns and clearly explained the differences between lenders which made him stand out above the rest. Because of our circumstances we really wanted to go with a specific lender and instead of pushing for a 0.05% better rate elsewhere he was appreciative of this and supported us all the way. He clearly presented us with our options and despite a few setbacks managed to secure the best available rate with our preferred lender. Ashley was always quick to respond to queries and the whole application process went smoothly. His support was invaluable and it’s crazy to think that it won’t end up costing us anything thanks to their first time buyer cashback. Part of the fee they receive even goes to one of the charities they support. There’s simply no reason to go with more expensive brokers and it’s a no brainer to have WR Ethical on your side when they end up costing you nothing.

The support I have recieved from Paul and the team throughout this journey has been so valuable. They made the whole process so easy (and that's a word I never thought I'd use when talking about mortgages!). It's also great to know that WR Ethical donate a portion of their fees to charity. I was able to choose from a selection of charities the one I wanted my donation to go towards (I chose InHope, a great charity supporting homelessness in Bristol). Our broker was Ashley Knight and he was calm, kind, friendly and very responsive throughout the process. Our application was complicated due to a mix of freelance and contractor work, but Ashley worked diligently to find us decent lenders. We wanted to get a mortgage from a bank with a good ethical rating and Ashley was able to give us the ethical scores of all the potential banks who would lend to us. Will definitely be sticking with WR Ethical for future re-mortgaging – can't recommend them enough.

He jumped on a call with me and answered a lot of my 'first time buyer' questions without any sales pitch or apparent agenda. Days later, when we'd made an offer on a flat, he was the obvious choice to go to for our broker: he sprang into action, guiding us through the whole process from start to finish, and secured us our mortgage within a month or so. His whole approach was very methodical, quick and thorough, and came with the added benefit of finding ethical options as well cheaper ones (as it happened the cheapest was the most ethical). If this wasn't enough, using WR Ethical comes with a donation to charity, so it goes to show they do care about more than the bottom line. Super happy we made this decision and I'd recommend to anyone.
