We’re delighted to share some wonderful news with you. WR Ethical has been named Best Ethical Mortgage Broker 2025 by SME News Magazine as part of their UK Finance Awards. What makes this particularly special is that it’s the third consecutive year we’ve received this recognition.
The SME News UK Finance Awards celebrate excellence across the UK’s financial services sector. Winners are chosen through a merit-based judging process that looks at ethical practices, service quality, and the real-world impact businesses have in their industry.
What This Means to Us
When we started WR Ethical in 2020, we had a simple but ambitious goal: to prove that doing the right thing doesn’t have to cost you more. This award tells us we’re on the right track.
Our founder Paul Waterfall said: “Winning this award for the third year running is humbling and incredibly encouraging for the whole team. How We’re Making a Difference
This recognition reflects the commitments we’ve kept since day one and the progress we’ve made:
- Donated approximately 4% of our turnover to charity each year, and have now formally committed to increasing that to 5%
- Worked with Ethical Consumer to inform all our customers of lender ethical ratings
- In the past 12 months we planted 267 trees (one for every mortgage application) and offset an additional 16 tonnes of carbon through Ecologi
- Maintained excellent customer feedback and hundreds of five-star reviews
- Achieved Fair Tax Mark accreditation
- And we’re hoping for more exciting news on a new accreditation in 2026
